Let Us Be the Ones Who Get Sprayed!
Skunks are particularly nasty pests to remove from your property. Unlike other nuisance animals that only make noise and occasionally bite, skunks have a pungent defensive spray that is notoriously difficult to wash off.
In addition to being able to spray, skunks are the most common carrier of rabies in Oklahoma. Rabies can be transmitted to humans and our pets, so it's important to keep skunks away from your home or business.
Edmond Wildlife Control offers a full range of skunk removal services.

Quick and Easy Skunk Prevention
As in most situations, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If you can keep your home from becoming attractive to skunks, you'll have fewer problems with them.
Skunks (and all nuisance animals) are primarily attracted to food. The easier it is to get, the better. Dishes of dog or cat food and piles of birdseed are their favorites. They also eat insects and play a big part in insect control, but you still don't want them around your home or business. If you don't leave food for them, they'll go somewhere else.
In the winter, they're attracted to warmth. They'll look for ways to get into your home, garage, warehouse, or other warm environment. We offer
exclusion inspections
that check your building for skunk-sized access points.
You can usually tell if a skunk is around by the smell. It may have sprayed a neighborhood dog, cat, raccoon, or other animal, and the smell will linger in the air for quite a while. You may also notice skunk feces — it's about the same size as cat feces, only it's shiny because it contains insect exoskeleton remains.
A Quick Word About Rabies
Skunks (along with bats) are the most common carriers of rabies in Oklahoma. At Edmond Wildlife Control, our number one concern is public safety, so we take the threat of rabies very seriously.
It's important to keep your pets current on their rabies vaccinations. If your dog tangles with a skunk, the skunk may transmit rabies to your pet. Rabies is transmitted through saliva and spinal fluid, so your dog may contract rabies from biting the skunk or from being bitten by it.
If your dog (or other pet) comes in contact with a skunk, please contact us immediately. We need to trap that skunk and test it for rabies.
Please do not try to handle a skunk (or bat) on your own. We're trained, licensed, and equipped to handle potentially rabid animals, and we bring over 20 years of experience to every job. Call or text us today for emergency skunk management.
